The Moto3 Honda Team Asia riders faced the seventh round of the World Championship at the legendary Silverstone Circuit, one of the most demanding tracks on the calendar.
Both Furusato and Buasri arrived in the UK with renewed focus and determination, aiming to convert their progress into results.
The opening day was difficult for both riders due to tricky track conditions: Taiyo and Tatchakorn were unable to find the pace closing respectively 21st and 23rd.
Furusato and Buasri also struggled on the qualifying day. The Q1 was chaotic and most of the riders risked everything on a single flying lap at the end. The Japanese rider got the 20th position on the grid (7th row), followed by his Thai teammate who got the 8th row (22nd position). Both riders gained one position on the grid after another rider got penalized.
In the race both riders showed determination resulting in one of the most exciting shows of the season so far.
Furusato in particular delivered an incredible performance battling for a podium position in the final laps. The Japanese rider showed a great pace and lap by lap he gained positions and caught the leading group.
The final fight was incredible and although he initially crossed the finish line 4th, he got a 3-second time penalty due to a contact with another rider who crashed. The penalty dropped him to 12th in the final classification.
Tatchakorn Buasri also fought hard throughout the race. Starting from 21st, the Thai rider joined the battle for the final points. He reached 16th position and was close to breaking into the top 15. Despite giving everything, he crossed the line in 19th after a challenging final few laps.
Despite the result the team remains positive and is looking forward to coming back on track, in two weeks in Aragon!
MOTO3: TAIYO FURUSATO #72
Grid P11- Race 6
First of all, I want to thank the team for supporting me throughout the weekend. It was definitely a tough one, starting from Friday through to Saturday. I began the race from P19 and didn’t have the strongest pace in the early stages.
However, I was able to manage things well in the middle of the race, especially with tire conservation. I focused on staying consistent and making the most of the situation. I was aiming for the podium in the final laps and managed my race well overall.
In the end, I finished P4 on track, but with the penalty, we ended up in P12. Considering how the weekend started, I’m happy with how I rode in the race. It’s not the result we wanted, especially on one of my favorite circuits, but we take the positives and keep working for the next one.
MOTO3: TATCHAKORN BUASRI #5
Grid P22 – Race 19
Today’s race was quite disappointing for me. The conditions were tough, and honestly, this kind of weather is the most difficult for me to perform in. I know everyone had to deal with the same situation, but I struggled more than I expected. I was hoping to deliver a stronger performance, but it just didn’t come together.
Despite that, I stayed in contact with my group for a while, although we lacked the pace to move forward. Eventually, the group slowed down and broke apart, and I couldn’t maintain my position.
As for my performance on Sunday, there’s still a lot of work to do. We need to keep pushing, keep improving, and stay focused on the next round. I remember that last year here I was in the top 10 and then had a crash, so this weekend was a tough reminder.
I want to apologize to the team for not delivering the result we were aiming for. I’ll keep working hard to come back stronger. Thank you to everyone who supports me.
HIROSHI AOYAMA – Team Manager
The Moto3 race is now complete, and it was quite a complicated one for us. Both Taiyo Furusato and Tatchakorn Buasri had strong performances, especially considering we started from the back of the grid, which made things difficult right from the beginning.
The race was also affected by strong winds, making riding conditions even more challenging. Despite this, both riders managed to fight hard. Furusato in particular showed great pace—he caught up impressively and was battling for a podium position in the final laps.
Unfortunately, during that fight, he made contact with another rider who crashed. As a result, Taiyo received a 3-second penalty after the race. Although he initially finished 4th on track, the penalty dropped him to 12th in the final classification.
We sincerely apologize to the other rider involved in the incident. It was a difficult and unfortunate situation. Despite the result, the positive takeaway is that Taiyo demonstrated very strong race pace. We need to learn from this and continue improving for the next round.
