The 2025 Moto3 World Championship arrived at its grand finale at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, a very traditional and historical track. The last two races were remarkable for the Honda Team Asia (with the first victory in career of Taiyo Furusato in Sepang and the third place in Portimao) and both riders were determined to close the season at their best.
The first day was a little bit complicated, especially in the morning: Zen Mitani closed FP1 in 21st position, with Taiyo Furusato just behind in 22nd. The track was dirty due to traces of oil affecting grip and confidence, making it a session more focused on careful testing rather than outright speed.
The second session was much better and Furusato showed his great potential once again by finishing the day 5th and placing himself as a strong contender for a competitive qualifying day.
Mitani, at his second race weekend with the team, finished 25th but with a small gap.
On the qualifying day track conditions improved and Taiyo Furusato got the third row on the grid, starting from P9. The Japanese rider showed a good feeling on the bike and a strong rhythm over multiple laps, ready to fight once again for a top result.
Zen Mitani got the 24th position; despite his starting position he showed improvements and great motivation.
The race was memorable and ended with an impressive third-place, the third consecutive podium for Taiyo Furusato; the best way to end his Moto3 journey. The Japanese rider, starting ninth, steadily joined the front group with intelligence and maturity, showing a great control, the same demonstrated in the last two races. Taiyo fought for the victory until the end with determination and he finally got 3rd place.
Zen Mitani struggled inside the top 20 for most of the race, showing solid pace, calm decision-making, and progress, a good sign for 2026. Unfortunately, Mitani crashed in the second half of the race. Despite the result, the young Japanese rider has gained valuable experience for the future.
The curtain closes on the 2025 World Championship and MIVV is proud of the results achieved.
MOTO3: TAIYO FURUSATO #72
Grid P9-Race 3
I’m really happy to finish my Moto3 career like this. Three podiums in a row is something incredible, and it shows how strong and confident we have been with the team these last weekends. Today I tried everything to fight for the victory. I felt good with the bike, I managed the tyre well, and my rhythm was strong until the end. I had planned to attack in the final laps, but the fighting in the group was intense and my plan didn’t work exactly as expected. In the last lap I wanted to go for the win because this was my last Moto3 race – it was win or lose. I tried to attack again but I went a bit wide and touched the green, so I accepted P3 as the maximum today. Now I’m excited to start the Moto2 chapter. We will test soon in Jerez, and I need to take my time to understand the bigger bike and adapt my riding style. I don’t have a lot of experience with big bikes, so these first days will be important to learn. Thanks to the team for these amazing years – I’m proud of what we achieved together.
MOTO3: ZEN MITANI #2
Grid P19- Race DNF
Today was a disappointing end because I really wanted to finish the race and fight for my first Moto3 points, but at the same time there are many positives. For most of the race I was inside the top 20, feeling more comfortable and understanding better how to manage the group. The pace was good, and every lap I learned something new. Unfortunately, in the second part of the race I made a small mistake and crashed, which ended my chances.
Even with the crash, this weekend has been very important for me. The team helped me a lot to adapt, and I can feel step by step that I am improving. I need more experience, more laps, and more calm in some moments, but I’m motivated to keep working. Thanks to the team for supporting me in these first two races – I will use this experience to come back stronger next season.
HIROSHI AOYAMA – Team Manager
Today we had a big battle in the ValenciaGP, and both riders showed strong spirit. Taiyo started from the ninth position and immediately caught the top group. Inside that group he fought for the victory, showing great maturity and a very high level. On the last lap he tried to overtake Fernández but made a small mistake and touched the green, so he finished P3. Even so, he was extremely close to winning the race and delivered another excellent performance.
For Mitani, unfortunately he crashed on lap 14, but the most important thing is that he is okay and not injured. These two races were important for him to gain experience with the team, and we could see clear progress. I want to thank our staff, our riders, and all our sponsors and supporters. It has been a long season with great effort from everyone, and thanks to them we could finish the year in a positive way.
