After the Australian GP the Honda Team Asia moved to Thailand for the 18th round of the Moto3 World Championship at Chang International Circuit in Buriram, the second of a three-weekend racing series and a special event for Thai rookie Tatchakorn Buasri, in front of his home crowd.

The first day both riders focused on the right set-up on a demanding circuit, featuring a long straight and challenging braking zones.
Taiyo Furusato worked on his own pace, by riding alone and finishing in 17th position.
Despite the 24th time, the local idol Tatchakorn Buasri showed significant progress.

On the qualifying day, the Japanese Furusato got the 4th fastest time, earning a spot on the second row of the grid.
Meanwhile Thai idol Buasri got the 25th position, after the cancellation of his best lap due to track limits violation.

The race was an intense battle for both riders. Furusato led the top group for several laps. Unfortunately, in the final corner of the last lap, while battling for a podium position, he had contact with another rider and crashed. Fortunately, both Taiyo and his bike crossed the finish line in 5th position.
Buasri performed well, in front of his public, showing a fighting spirit and determination. He gained eight positions to finish in a respectable 17th place.

Next stop Malaysia for the last Asian event!

MOTO3: TAIYO FURUSATO #72
Grid 4 -Race 5

furusato 2024

I had a bit of bad luck on the last lap with what I felt was an unnecessary move by the other rider, but sometimes these things happen. I managed my tire at the start as I wanted to keep it in good conditions, especially knowing that the rain could come at any moment.
During the Mid-race, I increased my pace and built a small gap, but it was a close fight to maintain it. Then at the last lap, an unlucky situation during the last corner happened, at least I didn’t get any injuries in the crash. Now, it’s time to focus on Malaysia next week, where we hope to achieve the victory we’re aiming for.

MOTO3: TATCHAKORN BUASRI #5
Grid 26- Race 20

Today is painful because I made a mistake on the last lap when I was in the points zone, battling with other riders, and finished 17th. It was a great opportunity for a strong result in front of my home crowd.
It’s a shame, especially since my riding and the bike’s performance have improved a lot. I’m on the right path and need to keep this momentum, learn from my mistakes, and keep progressing. I’m sorry for the error that cost us points today. I want to thank my friends, fans, team, and everyone who supported me—I’ll keep fighting even harder for them.

HIROSHI AOYAMA – Team Manager

We’ve just concluded the Moto3 race here in Thailand, and it was an intense battle for both riders. Taiyo Furusato was right in the fight for the lead, while Tatchakorn Buasri pushed hard to score points.
The last-lap battle among the leaders was extremely close. Furusato led for a good part of the race, but positions shifted in the final laps. In the very last corner, another rider made contact, causing Furusato to crash. While he ultimately finished P5, we were left frustrated as we knew he was capable of more.
Tatchakorn Buasri held 15th position toward the end, close to earning his first points, but he ultimately finished 17th. It’s a tough result to accept since both riders performed well, but we know they have the potential to achieve even better. I want to extend my gratitude to our riders, team, and sponsors for their continued support.
