The Mandalika International Circuit hosted, this weekend, the 18th round of the Moto3 World Championship. After the unfortunate Japanese Grand Prix, the Honda Team Asia arrived in Indonesia with renewed determination and motivation as both riders showed potential. This round also had a special meaning for Arbi Aditama competing in front of his home crowd with thousands of local fans supporting him.

The first day was held under extremely hot conditions, a real challenge for all the riders. Taiyo Furusato had a positive day overall: after finishing only 17th in the morning’s FP1, he made a good step forward in the afternoon closing the day inside the top 10 and securing a direct place in Q2.
On the other side of the garage, local hero Arbi Aditama had a more difficult day and completed both sessions in 26th position.

On the qualifying day Taiyo Furusato delivered an outstanding performance, securing fifth position and earning a place on the second row of the grid.
His teammate Arbi Aditama crashed in FP2 while in Q1 he waited too long in the group, which cost him the chance to complete two fast laps, by concluding the session with the 25th time.

The race day turned into another heartbreaking Sunday for the team. Taiyo Furusato (5th on the grid) immediately positioned himself in the large leading group and managed his race intelligently, staying cautious during the opening laps and preparing his attack for the final stages.
Unfortunately, with only five laps to go, Tayo crashed after a contact with another rider. He rejoined the race but fell once again – an ending similar to Motegi.
On the other side Arbi Aditama gave his best in a demanding race at his home Grand Prix. He started well from the 25th position but he lost the rhythm during the race due to a couple of contacts. He crossed the line 19th.

Now it’s time to rest, recharge batteries and come back stronger in two weeks at Phillip Island!

MOTO3: TAIYO FURUSATO #72
Grid P5  Race DNF

furusato 2024

Honestly, it’s very hard to accept this result. I was feeling strong and comfortable during the race, managing the tyres and waiting for the right moment to attack. Everything was under control until that contact happened — I tried to continue, but the bike was damaged, and I crashed again. It’s really frustrating because two weekends in a row I had the pace to fight for the podium, and both times it ended in a crash.
Even though the result is painful, I take the positives. We were fast, competitive, and able to fight with the front group. Now it’s important to reset mentally and come back stronger for the next round. I want to thank my team and all the Indonesian fans who supported us here. I will keep pushing — our time will come

MOTO3: FADILLAH ARBI ADITAMA #93
Grid P25-  Race 19

It was a really tough race today, especially with the heat. I made a good start and gained several positions in the opening laps, but then I had two contacts with other riders that made me lose time and rhythm. From that moment, it was difficult to recover the pace and fight for the points. Anyway, I gave my best and managed to finish P19, which is close to the points zone.
Of course, I wanted a better result at my home Grand Prix, but racing in front of all these fans gave me extra motivation. I’m learning a lot each weekend, and I’m really grateful for it. I really appreciate the support from everyone who came to cheer for us today — it means a lot to me.

HIROSHI AOYAMA – Team Manager

Today was not an ideal day for us in Moto3. Both riders gave their best, but unfortunately, Taiyo crashed again while fighting in the front group. We really wanted him to finish the race this time and convert his pace into a result, but once more, luck was not on our side. He showed strong potential, and now the most important thing for him is to finish the race and turn that speed into points in the next round.
Arbi also did his best today. He had a strong start, but as the race went on, he started to drop a bit and finished outside the points. Still, I appreciate the effort of both riders — they pushed until the end despite the difficulties. It’s not easy to deal with races like this, but the positive thing is that both riders are physically okay. Now we must reset, learn from this weekend, and aim for a different result at the next race in Phillip Island.
