The Moto3 Honda Team Asia successfully completed the 20th round of the 2025 World Championship at Sepang International Circuit, a track that holds great memories for the team: in 2024 Furusato celebrated a podium while Buasri achieved his first World Championship point.

The first day started under mixed track conditions (rain in the morning and a drying surface in the afternoon), typical of the Malaysian Grand Prix. In FP1 both Taiyo Furusato and Tatchakorn Buasri struggled to find grip and consistency, respectively finishing 23rd and 25th.
In the afternoon track conditions improved: a drier surface and more stable pace allowed Furusato to get the sixth fastest time of the day, earning a direct spot into Q2. His teammate Tatchakorn Buasri also made progress and closed the day 21st.

The qualifying day was a glimpse of what was going to come next. Taiyo Furusato delivered one of his strongest performances of the season. After finishing 8th in the morning’s final free practice session, the Japanese rider got the 2nd position on the grid, riding completely alone — without any slipstream.
Tatchakorn Buasri had a more complicated day and he finally placed 24th on the grid.

The race day was unforgettable for the whole team. Taiyo Furusato dominated the Malaysian Grand Prix and secured his first-ever Moto3™ victory.
The day began in unusual circumstances due to a dramatic crash between two riders during the sighting lap. The red flag was immediately displayed and the race was delayed for 2 hours and shortened to 10 laps. Despite the difficult and emotional situation Furusato took the lead at the start and controlled the race with great maturity. The Japanese rider maintained a perfect pace and built a gap that grew to over two seconds at the finish line. After being close to the podium many times this season, Taiyo could finally celebrate this important milestone with his family and team — a well-deserved reward for a season full of hard work, persistence and growth.
His teammate Tatchakorn Buasri fought until the end to reach the points, ultimately finishing 21st.

Now it’s time to come back to Europe for the final events of the year, with a bigger motivation.

MOTO3: TAIYO FURUSATO #72
Grid P2-Race 1

furusato 2024

This is one of the happiest and most emotional days of my life. Winning my first Grand Prix, and doing it here in Sepang with my family and my team around me, is something I will never forget. It really feels like a dream come true. The race was not easy — with the delay, the heat, and the short distance, I just tried to stay focused and not think about anything else. From the start, I managed to lead, and I just kept pushing every lap, trying to stay calm and consistent.
I want to thank my team so much — they have supported me every step of the way this season, always believing in me. This win is for them and for everyone who has helped me reach this point. It’s an incredible feeling, but I know we still have races ahead, so we’ll keep working and fighting for more results like this.

MOTO3: TATCHAKORN BUASRI #5
Grid P24- Race 21

buasri 2024

Today was a very difficult race for me. The conditions were extremely hot, and with only ten laps, everything happened very fast. I tried to make a good start and stay with the group, but I was struggling with grip and sliding a lot during the race. Still, I gave my best until the end and learned a lot from this experience.
Of course, I wanted to be higher, but the positive thing is that we understand better where we can improve — especially in qualifying and the first laps of the race. I will take all this learning to keep pushing to show my full potential. Congratulations to Taiyo and to the team for this amazing victory — it’s very motivating for all of us.

HIROSHI AOYAMA – Team Manager

It was quite an unusual and emotional race today. The red flag before the start and the delay made the situation more complicated for everyone, and the race distance was reduced to only 10 laps. Despite that, Taiyo Furusato managed to stay calm and focused from the very beginning. He took the lead early and controlled the race with great maturity — that’s not an easy thing to do in Moto3, where the gaps are always so close and you can never relax, even for one lap.
He has been close to the podium many times this season, and today he finally achieved the victory he deserved. I’m very happy for him and for the whole team. This result is a big motivation for everyone in Honda Team Asia. For Tatcha, it was a more difficult race, but he fought hard and gave his best. We still have two more races to go, and we’ll keep working to improve and finish the season in the best way possible. Thank you to all our sponsors, partners, and fans for their continuous support.
