The 2025 Moto3 season officially started in Thailand this weekend with the first race at Chang International Circuit, in Buriram. A particularly special Grand Prix for Buasri, racing on home soil, and also for Furusato on one of his favorite tracks.

In the first free practice day, both riders showed a good pace despite challenging track conditions: Furusato secured a Top 10 position, showing early competitiveness, while local hero Buasri came close to breaking into the Top 15.

The qualifying day was positive for the Moto3 Honda Team Asia: Taiyo got the third row on the grid finishing P9, just 0.3 seconds off the leader. Tatchakorn Buasri advanced from Q1 to Q2 for the first time in his career—an important milestone for him. He ultimately secured P17 with a competitive lap time.

The race was tough for both riders, being not able to cross the finish line.Taiyo Furusato started well from the 9th position. He was close to the Top 5 group when he suffered a crash in turn 3 ending his chances of fighting for a podium position. Meanwhile, local hero Tatchakorn Buasri was also involved in an incident, preventing him from completing his home race. Despite their disappointment, both riders will now work to come back stronger in two weeks in Argentina.

MOTO3: TAIYO FURUSATO #72
Grid 9-Race DNF

This was the worst possible way to start the season. The bike felt good, and I had the pace, but I made a mistake, and I take full responsibility for it. There are still 21 races ahead, so I need to stay focused, think positively, and ensure that I learn from this experience. Moving forward, we cannot afford to make the same mistakes again.

MOTO3: TATCHAKORN BUASRI #5
Grid 17- Race DNF

I’m disappointed because I was having a good race at my home Grand Prix, but unfortunately, I crashed. Despite this, the overall feeling throughout the weekend was positive—I felt comfortable on the bike and with the team, and I’m proud of the effort everyone put in.
Our race strategy was to start cautiously and gradually gain positions, but an unfortunate incident while trying to catch another rider ended my race early. I regret the outcome, and I want to apologize to the team, our sponsors, and the fans. We will continue to work hard and come back stronger in the next rounds.

It is truly disappointing, as we had a great opportunity to fight for the podium and secure points. Both riders were well-positioned within the main group—Taiyo Furusato was closing in on the front pack, demonstrating the speed to set the fastest lap and reduce the gap to the leaders. Meanwhile, Tatchakorn Buasri was battling in the middle group, aiming to break into the points.
Unfortunately, both riders crashed in Turn 3, likely pushing too hard under braking. It’s unfortunate, but the most important thing is that they are both okay. I sincerely apologize to our fans, supporters, and sponsors—we gave our maximum effort but were unable to deliver the results we aimed for. However, we remain confident in our work and will keep striving for strong performances in the upcoming races.
