After a strong performance in Argentina of Furusato and Buasri, the Moto3 Honda Team Asia faced, this weekend, the third round of the World Championship at the COTA, Texas.

The first day, on wet track conditions, Furusato secured a direct spot in Q2 by getting the fourteenth time in the afternoon session. Buasri crashed ten minutes to the end of the session and was forced to make a quick return to the box for a final time attack. Despite the incident, he got P17.

The qualifying day was very hard: Tatchakorn Buasri, who had been improving throughout the weekend, suffered a heavy crash causing a knee injury. The Thai rider was then declared unfit for the race.
Taiyo Furusato also crashed during Q2 and this crash significantly impacted his performance, leaving him 17th on the grid.

It wasn’t an easy race for Furusato, the sole representative for the Moto3 Honda Team Asia. Despite starting 17th on the grid, the Japanese rider delivered a determined comeback performance. After a challenging start, he gradually gained positions, finally battling within a competitive group fighting for 7th place. Taiyo crossed the line in 9th place, securing a top-10 finish for the team.
Hoping for a quick recovery of Buasri, the focus now is Qatar, in two weeks.

MOTO3: TAIYO FURUSATO #72
Grid 17-Race 9

It has been a tough week. Yesterday, I only managed two laps all day due to a mechanical issue in the morning and a mistake in qualifying. As a result, I wasn’t as prepared for the race as I normally would be on a race weekend.
To be honest, I’m not completely happy with how things went, but I still managed to finish P9. My goal was to reach P7, but I ran out of time. While this wasn’t the weekend I had hoped for, I still scored six points, which is better than my result in Thailand.
In Thailand, I had great speed and a strong weekend but ended up with zero points. So, I have to take the positives from this and keep looking ahead. We’ll shift our focus to the next race and continue working hard to improve.

MOTO3: TATCHAKORN BUASRI #5
Grid 24- Race DNP

Unfortunately, I was unable to take part in today’s race. I’m very disappointed with how things turned out, especially since I was feeling confident on the bike and making good progress throughout the weekend. Yesterday’s crash was an unexpected setback, and now the priority is to assess the condition of my knee. I will do everything I can to recover and return to the track as soon as possible. A big thank you to my team for their support—I’ll be back stronger.

HIROSHI AOYAMA – Team Manager

In this Moto3 race, we saw a great recovery from Furusato. Starting from 17th on the grid, he managed to fight his way through and finish strong. Considering that he had very limited track time and experience in dry conditions this weekend, I think he did a solid job in the race.
It wasn’t an easy race, and while the result wasn’t exactly what we were aiming for, he and the team put in a professional effort to recover positions. Of course, there’s always room for improvement, and we’ll take this as a learning experience to keep progressing in every race. Now, we’ll focus on Qatar. We also need to assess the situation with Tatchakorn’s injury with the doctors and hope for a quick recovery so he can rejoin us for the next race.
